SaForus Invisible Watermark: From Copyright Protection to Deepfake Crime Prevention

With the advent of generative AI, people can now create content easily and quickly. While generative AI offers many advantages in terms of productivity and efficiency, it also brings about several issues.

The creation of content using generative AI involves utilizing existing data, which necessitates the collection, transformation, and transmission of publicly available data. During this process, AI may edit or modify original photos or videos, leading to copyright infringement and social problems. Therefore, the need for accurate identification of sources and originals has become crucial. To address these issues, the application of invisible watermarks is essential.

Unlike traditional watermarks, the SaForus invisible watermark is not visible to the naked eye, ensuring that it does not degrade the quality of the content or interfere with its use. Additionally, even if content with an invisible watermark is copied or manipulated, the watermark remains intact, making it a powerful tool to distinguish between original and altered content.

Furthermore, deepfakes, which have gained attention due to generative AI, involve manipulating a person's face or voice to create fake images or videos. The use of deepfakes for criminal activities has surged following the emergence of generative AI. By applying an invisible watermark to content created by generative AI, it becomes possible to prevent deepfake crimes. The invisible watermark can embed information about the content, making it possible to trace the creator or distributor of the deepfake.

SaForus invisible watermark can be applied to images, videos, and audio created by both companies and individuals, embedding various pieces of information. Even if an image or video is leaked, it is easy to trace the source through the leaked content's photo capture or using specialized modules.

Han Ji-hoon, the business PM for MarkAny’s SaForus, stated, "SaForus invisible watermark is provided in a SaaS format, allowing anyone to easily protect their content with watermarks. Additionally, many customers want to directly provide images or videos with invisible watermarks through their services or apps, so we are also developing a watermarking API."
