MarkAnyChainverse (CEO Choi Jong-uk) announced on the 29th that it has become the first in the world to obtain the three-stage certification (Issuer, Display, Host) for ‘Open Badge 3.0.’
MarkAnyChainverse is a leading blockchain company in South Korea, having executed over 30 projects in both the public and private sectors. Their GS1-certified products, AnyBlock v2.0 and AnyBlockDID v1.0, are listed on the Public Procurement Service's Digital Service Mall.
Open Badge is an international standard specification announced by 1EdTech to ensure the global interoperability of digital badges. Open Badge 3.0, which MarkAnyChainverse has acquired, is a tool that allows individuals to certify and share their learning experiences, competencies, and achievements in the form of digital badges.
Badges issued under this international standard specification can be stored in a dedicated wallet and are globally compatible, making it easy for job seekers preparing for overseas employment to submit certificates. Open Badge is already actively used by companies such as IBM, Adobe, and ETS.
The certification for Open Badge 3.0 is divided into three stages: Issuer, Display, and Host. The Issuer can issue and distribute badges, Display refers to the authority to include VC information in badges and display them as images, and Host is the qualification to certify Open Badge in accordance with 1EDTECH standards.
While eight companies (including two Korean companies) have obtained the Open Badge 3.0 certification, MarkAnyChainverse is the first and only company in the world to receive all three levels of certification.
In 2023, MarkAnyChainverse collaborated with the Korean Sports & Olympic Committee to issue Open Badges for athlete qualifications, and these badges are being used in conjunction with the Korea Human Resources Development Service’s wallet. This year, the company has been selected as a participant in the ‘NIPA Promising SaaS Development Support Project’ and plans to launch a subscription-based Open Badge service through various private institutions.
Choi Jong-uk, CEO of MarkAnyChainverse, stated, "Through MarkAnyChainverse’s DID (Decentralized Identity) technology, we aim to transform the certificate market, which is currently issuer-centered, into a user-centered ecosystem where individuals can disclose their personal information only under the conditions they desire, at places they choose." He added, "By achieving this Open Badge 3.0 certification, we will lower the barriers to overseas certification and lead the formation and activation of the domestic digital badge market."
